ONCE UPON
A SCREEN

(with Evelyn Kreutzer)

Once Upon a Screen is a collaborative videographic project dedicated to personal explorations of childhood screen memories and traumas. The project was started by Evelyn Kreutzer and myself in 2019.​​

​​The first volume of the project consists of 9 video essays that explore personal, traumatic screen memories.

It was published in Fall 2020 as issue 15 of The Cine-Files, and was featured prominently on Sight & Sound's poll for the best video essays of 2020 (and mentioned on the previous year's poll as well).

​​​The second volume consists of 16 video essays that collaboratively explore formative screen memories.

It was published in two instalments of [in]Transition: Journal of Videographic Film & Moving Image Studies

the first issue was published in December 2022; the second issue was published in February 2023.

Entries from this volume were featured prominently on Sight & Sound's poll for the best video essays of 2022, receiving multiple mentions on the 2023 poll as well.​​​​​​​​​
